The Sauna & Hot Tub are open year round for all overnight guests and by advanced reservation. You can book your Day Use by filling out the online Facility Use Form.

The Seasonal Pool is open May through October.

The Welcome Center is open for advanced Day Use reservations and for checking in Overnight Guests at a scheduled time. You can contact the Welcome Center by calling 707-923-5000.

Wireless Internet is available across the property for most of the overnight lodging areas. 

All overnight guests have access to the three Community Kitchens to prepare, store, and cook their own meals.  The Heartwood Kitchen is able to cater meals for groups of 20 people or more.  Alternatively, the Commercial Kitchen can be rented and an outside caterer can be brought in to provide meals for you and your group.  If you’d like The Heartwood Kitchen to cater, or if you want to rent the Commercial Kitchen, please fill out the group inquiry form.

Heartwood is a wildlife sanctuary and is unable to accommodate visiting pets. Please honor our no pets policy by leaving your furry family members at home. If you have a service animal, please let our front desk know when you make your reservation, so we can make proper arrangements for you.

We recommend you bring the following items for your stay.

• Food: Bring all food you will need during your stay. There are three shared Community  Kitchens onsite that have refrigerators that you may store your food in.
• Hiking boots: Bring adequate, sturdy footwear.
• Versatile attire: Bring clothing for hot and dry as well as cool and damp weather.
• Flashlight and Batteries: There are lights around the property at night, but we recommend bringing a flashlight as well.

We provide towels, sheets, and blankets. Privacy and water conservation are respected.  Rooms are clean at your arrival, and cleaned after your departure.

Bring camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad), towel(s), and a reusable water bottle.

Please do not bring any sage, incense, candles, camp stoves, sparklers, fireworks, pets, or guns.

​In the summer, we experience temperatures ranging from 70-100 degrees during the day and cooler temperatures of 40-70 degrees at night.

In the winter months, we can experience snow and/or cold rain, so you will want to pack layers to keep yourself warm and dry (jackets, hats, gloves, waterproof boots, etc).

Yes, all smokers are able to smoke in designated areas on the property. The Smoking Temple by the Lodge, the cement pad outside of the Facilities Building, and at the cement pads at the Lodging areas are all safe places to smoke, as long as you are not bothering any other guests. Safely put out your smoking item in the designated ashtrays to reduce fire danger.

The dirt roads at Heartwood can be steep and slippery. Road bikes are not recommended.  You may ride your mountain bike at your own risk.

The Heartwood property is steep and mostly unpaved.

The Lodge can be accessed by wheelchair at the side entrance. The Hot Tub area can be accessed by wheelchair, and has a folding down seat for the indoor shower there. Madrone room 32 can be accessed the easiest for a person in a wheelchair, although it does have a door frame lip at the door, and the private shower in room 32 has a folding down seat in the shower.
